Would that be a windows program or a linux one ? Because even if you installed one distro it doesnt mean you can install them all...
-
Cool idea, but it seems extremely impractical. If you're going to do this you might as well try and write a generic installer instead, and I think there are very good reasons why that doesn't exist...
-
I think this would be a great idea for a website or a good moderated subreddit, wiki. It doesn't need to be a program. But a go to place for that information would be a blessing. Have had trouble with several mashines latly even get linux running.

Okay, I think it may be a better idea to make a kind of generic linux installer, for windows
It would ask which distribution, automatically download it, install It, then provide tailored set-up instructions for once you boot into it @Zaphod65 -
greyfade2137yNot to imply this idea isn't valuable, but the Arch Linux wiki has exceptional content for exactly this purpose, even if it's tailored for Arch.
-
@greyfade exactly, and this would be similar to that, but for all (or a select range of) distros
-
greyfade2137y@j4cobgarby Well, I mean that nearly all of the content on that wiki already applies to the majority of distributions equally well. Similarly, the Gentoo wiki applies to most of the rest.

nerdofcode37yMaybe it should just be a linux virtual machine just to see if the user actually wants to dabble with it?

nerdofcode37y@cmrickels I try my best to spread Linux’s influence and it’s advantages over traditional systems at nerdofcode.com... one day Linux will dominate PC oses...
