Hi, I recently started a Comp. Sci course at Nottingham University, does anyone else here go there?3

It may not look like it, but the fact that these lights are on means that my breadboard computer will work, in theory10

New robot in development!
Much better than my old one:
- sturdier base/wheels further apart
- got a custom designed PCB printed for it
- 18V motors3 -
You might remember this board from my last post...
After weeks and weeks of trying to get this microcontroller to work I finally managed, and of course the problem was that I was being stupid...
Anyway, it now fades an LED on and off! Very fun, now to make a keyboard...11 -
My PCBs that I designed arrived today! They're just to test how to use the Atmega32u4 microcontroller before I make a keyboard using it :)10

Today at school I borrowed an oscilloscope and a few capacitors and used a circuit I made at home to just demonstrate the discharge of a capacitor, since my physics teacher asked me to teach the class about this on Friday
So it's one of those old analogue scopes, so to get a nice line I turned the speed right down and did a long exposure shot with my phone and it turned out brilliantly!31 -
Today my friend discovered a mechanical calculator at school, we were playing around with it for >1hour, very cool9

My ESP32 arrived today! I'm probably gonna be using it to make a programmable guitar pedal, but does anyone else have any ideas?10

Amazon showed me this when I tried to cancel my prime trial
For a horrible second I thought I had to send it in by mail1 -
Designing the schematics for a cake I'm about to make
Update soon!
Can anyone guess what it's gonna be? It's gonna be a 3d model made from slices7 -
Does anyone else hate it that ".io" is now a style of game? And not even a good one, at that
When I told one of my friends I want to buy a .io domain name, he was confused when I didn't want to make one of those games7 -
I think people get *way* too annoyed if someone tags their post here with the wrong tag, even with completely new users
Seriously, who cares if you see a few jokes in your rant feed? I know some of the jokes are bad, and in that case just scroll past them, even downvote it if you have to, maybe remind them to post it in the right tag even, but it annoys me seeing posts here about people being as annoyed as they are about wrong tags7 -
Update to my last rant: thought I'd give antergos a try, I've heard it's better than Manjaro so I'm gonna see what I think, so far it seems identical more or less12

Two days ago on my linux partition python was being weird, and I couldn't fix it no matter what I tried. Logical option was to backup /home and then reinstall linux
Two days later I want to die, for whatever reason I can't properly boot from a live USB without getting "input/output error", and I've already erased my previous linux installation at this point.
Anyway, I still have windows, and I think that the problem might be faulty RAM (I get i/o errors with any live USB) so I booted into windows, let it do some updates and now I'm checking my memory
After this, I'm going to open up my PC and check that the RAM sticks are all in properly9
