Given the recent #deletefacebook movement and everyone deleting their Facebook accounts for privacy reasons, I must ask. Is LinkedIn any better than facebook? How much do you guys trust them with personal information?

I’m asking because LinkedIn seems so important for finding work and connecting with people, but given the amount of information I have given them and the fact that they are owned by Microsoft, I am a little concerned.

LinkedIn helps to keep in touch with contacts and recruiters. I don’t like it but is very useful a necessary evil.

LinkedIn is the worst! Some guy signed up and LinkedIn spams all his contact list with "Hey im on linked in, you get in too bla bla", and i dont even know the guy. Sent him a mail only once, strictly business but although im sure he didnt mean ti send it to all his contacts, LinkedIn abused the shit out of contacts with vague disclaimers and whatnot.
And it gets worse. If i dont do anything, few days later you get a fucking reminder message, I mean fuck, why wouldn't I want to be reminded of annoying shit like that am I right?
A few more days later, one more reminder.
Well fuck that. So I click the convenient "unsubscribe" button. But guess where that takes me? To the fucking regustration page. Apparently I have to register with them to unsubscribe from a thing I didn't ask for in the first place. FUCK!

And thankfuckingly, they got slapped with a lawsuit for the same exact reason. http://fortune.com/2015/10/...
No idea what happened to it after, but fuck them!

linkedIn is much, much, much worse then FB. they will sell your data to any bidder that comes along, without any privacy options for you to prevent this.
    Avoid if possible.

@magicMirror do you have more info on this?

I agree with @elgringo that it’s kinda a necessary evil since it’s pretty integral to professional connections so like they’d have to do something pretty horrific for me to delete my account :/
