Ace714258937yYep programming is one of the few things that I'll know I need to clean the house or something but I put it off to test "one last bit of code"
Suddenly 4 hours have passed -
Only two things in life have ever given me this feeling:
Music improvisation (worked as a full time session musician for almost 10y) & programming. -
I think that's exactly why I love programming. It lets you get immersed in it. I don't think about anything else when I'm in the zone. Time just flies and I kind of lose myself for a moment and I just function as a coding machine. I don't know why but it feels good. It feels like I'm no longer in the way but I just function.
Feeling like that almost feels like it has a purpose. Like it's meaningful because it kind of absorbs the ego and let's just the moment be.
Thanks for helping me recognizing that :-)
And sorry for getting a little philosophical -
yeah i'd say that for sure, very similar. made that fucking machine do what i wanted it to do! but be warned, machines will always do what you tell it to do, and that is a fucking problem. when machines start doing what we "mean"...well, there are no problems. Except, you know- machines taking over the world and Terminators and shit.
I think I get a programmer high.
Like when I program, I get really into it, time is flying, I'm having fun problem solving, I am super focused, my brain is thinking super fast, and I have a hard time stopping.
Maybe similar to a runners high?
