I'm lost here 😑! Got a new job and I supposed to analyze/fix/update/ the communication softwares/hardwares internally. Data security is insanely important and everything should be inexpensive 😑. Any suggestion what I can use as softwares and communication tools?

    >Data security is insanely important
    >Must be inexpensive

Pick one. Keeping proprietary software up to date is expensive, unless the company uses only open source (which I doubt), good routers are also expensive, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

It can be secured cheaply depending on the infrastructure, but it won't be insanely secure without some cash flow.

@JKyll thanks for your reply. That's absolutely why I'm lost here. I supposed to build an inexpensive secured communication infrastructure in the company. Any ideas what current software I can present? I thought about retroshare hahaha

@wiyzard well like I said it depends of the infrastructure and the use/purpose.

I guess something inexpensive would be to get a nice router and enable deep packet inspection, subnet appropriately, close unused ports on servers and try updating and patching the systems. For starters.

@JKyll let's say those things that you listed have been done already. What would be your next step? What software would you recommend for a adressbook/contact list?

@wiyzard an address book? Depends where is it stored, who is supposed to have access to it?

You can cheaply secure all you want but sooner or later you'll need to spend some cash and don't forget about the most vulnerable and naive security flaws, the people.

@JKyll only internally accessible for someone whom I give access rights as an admin. What you recommend?
I want to store it in our local drive

@wiyzard well that would be it I guess, you can't control what that user does either he access you grant you can however log it depending on the tech.
