While everyone hates on Windows for getting updates and having to restart it.... I hate on FileZilla for receiving way too many updates and also having to restart it... more than Windows...

    Filezilla is funny.
    FZ: you got an update!
Me: It's OK, i will inst...
FZ: Let me just download it for you real quick...
Me: wtf no! I didn't ask you to. Also I use the portable version.
    DZ: Lol too late!
    Me:.... *closes FZ*
Me: *Deletes the just downloaded setup*
Me: *open FZ a few hours later*
FZ: Hey you got an update!
    Me: fuuuuu........

    The circle of life.

(And yes, i know you can disable that behavior but damn, who the fuck just downloads a setup without telling you, under default settings?. Thats like the evil cousin of Autoplay video websites)

That's kind of a Windows problem. Windows doesn't have a package manager to install updates for all the applications at once, so each one must come with their own update solution.

You can try using chocolatey and keep your filezilla updated using this package: https://chocolatey.org/packages/...

I just do that for all my applications, so I can update them all with one command.

@Qwby yeah I love Chocolatey and I use it a lot. But FileZilla keeps asking me to update every time I launch it. I rarely use it but when I need it, that stupid dialog comes up. I would appreciate it if they show the dialog but at least allow me to work with the app without responding to it.

@MrCSharp a lot of my co-workers who use Windows love working with WinSCP for their FTP needs, I don't know if it's equally frustrating with it's updates but that could maybe be an option.

@Qwby I looked it up the other day and will try to use it next time I need to do something with FTP. :)
