So is it just a standard thing, now, where interviewers get you to do a coding problem remotely on a shared notepad while they watch you over video chat? For me at least, it is the most uncomfortable style of interview I've experienced. I don't think I'll ever get through one :(

    I had a Google interview where I had to write code in a Google Doc while the dude listened over the phone. Fucking annoying

    I didn't have to do that for either of my last few interviews. I think it depends on the role.

    @Mba3gar One was remote, and they did an okay job, so it's sort of excusable. (I think they understood the limitations). The other two were in the same city as me, I guess as misguided extensions of their phone screeners. Definitely odd behaviour. I find it awkward working through a problem like that when your only social cues are coming from a video chat. All full stack developer roles. Oh well, lessons learned: I picked up some ways to see these interviews coming.
