Yeees! Got my contract for the time after my apprenticeship. 4 days/week and a shitload of 💰, from my point of view. 36k € per year.

Additionally I got the position I wanted, I'm responsible for the whole infrastructure and the conversion of our app from Winforms to WPF.

I'M HAPPY AS F*** xD

    @life Hmm, maybe.. but definitely not this year. I will marry my great love in July this year. This year will be awesome as heck!

    @Floydian thank you I'm lurking around for a couple of months now, glad this place exists. 🤗

    I need that, wtf.., meanwhile I'm working a full-stack for 5 days a week and that only for less then 25K... /genuinelyJelly

    Congrats on that!

    It will be appreciated if you tell where you live. Because 25k/year or 36 it is low for some countries.
    I get 60k/year in Boston and I can barely save money. :P
    And I work at least 9-10 hours a day.

    @SoulSkrix I'm beginning to think the world hates me, even how hard I try...

    @aldoblack I live in Germany. Here it is not the top most, but it is relatively high for a beginner after his apprenticeship.
    Additionally I work for 8h/day for a total of 32h/week.

    Welcome to devRant and congratulations for your job. If you're happy and you find the work satisfying, there's nothing better than that.

    Make sure to put pictures of your first day at work here too.

    @stackler 36k/year. Is this after tax or before tax? If it is after tax is it great deal.
    And congratulations. :)

    @aldoblack before taxes. It'll be 27k € afterwards.

    @stackler is that a big company? What's the name of it? The name of the chain is also fine :)

    @-ANGRY-CLIENT- Small company ~30 employees just one gigantic 25 years old monolith of application. It's fun though. XD

    @stackler na dann... Viel Spaß und viel Glück im richtigem Unternehmen! :)

    @-ANGRY-CLIENT- Vielen Dank! Wenn ich eins sicher weiß, dann das es nicht langweilig werden wird.

    congrats but did you say move to WPF?
  • 1
    @bondman aye conversion/new-implementation to/in WPF
  • 0
    @stackler good luck, i thought MS was getting rid of wpf
  • 2
    @bondman maybe, but not as fast as we need a solution. Currently the logic is tightly coupled with the view. No real testing and it's a mess to make any changes. WPF with MVVM will get rid of that problem. At least for know. XD and hey, I still need a job after we are done with the current overhaul. I'm curious what will be the successor of WPF though
  • 1
    @stackler lol, Makes sense on the job security part..As far as successor goes I think its WinRT but I recollect reading somewhere that it is COM based internally (only much cleaner) - which still to me is mind boggling but MS might have ironed out the well known issues. I cant speak to it much without having used it.

    @zickig yeah, calculations within the layout pass can become very heavy very fast, thanks for the advise. You get 60k€? Which education, degree do you got and how much experience?

    I've just about to finish my apprenticeship, final exams next week and only accumulated 2 yrs of experience as a Dev. 🤣
