@vocuzi ive never had to use media queries for the regular text size... Mediaqueries are relatively slow. Its better to use EM/REM and if needed modify it with a percentage.

@daegontaven originally in the printed and pressed world it was related to the size of the 'm' indeed.

In the web world its just font size relative to its parent container. The size by default is your browser font size but will be overwritten by some stupid devs.

For Android Developers it is if you replace dp with px. dp is density indipendent pixel.
