    @bahua I really wish I did..

This goes along the lines of media player removed from windows. No one uses it and microshit has to pay for the license.
  • 1
They can't just give away these licenses if Windows 10 is free...
  • 3
So ms should pay mpeg2 license for you and give you the player for free? Make sense
  • 2
VLC that shit and never look back. And if VLC ain't good enough I also got 5kPlayer which is also free. Don't encourage them with your money it's bs.

@Joshus oh trust me I use vlc, it just popped up in the store for me and I thought it might have been 3rd party but nope

@lxmcf yeah MS really are taking the piss

    why why why

@JoshSCF @Joshus @lxmcf once again, because for some reasons, ms should pay a license fee if they want to include a dvd player in the OS, same for this app... I don't know why other apps don't have to pay it and so can be free. I use with no problems ms video app for 95% of video files, but in case it don't i just use vlc instead of rant and blame ms, for ms it's not their priority and only business like vlc

@dontbeevil just to be clear I'm not blaming ms for anything. I'm pointing out that nobody is going to spend that much money when there are free equivalents?! It's bad business @dontbeevil and it's to their own detriment.

    It's simple.
The license to use the DVD standard for commercial uses costs a lot, and it doesn't make sense for Microsoft in 2018 to still pay it, since the DVDs are very rare and everyone can download VLC to play it, or buy this app you consider useless if really want a Microsoft's software for it.

VLC & co. don't have to pay for it because they're not using it for commercial uses, they're free.
But for sure the developers of professional software e.g. VEGAS, Adobe Premiere, etc. do that.

@JS96 in more annoyed at 20 fucking dollars, I understand the licence payments but no way is it going to justify such a high price
  • 4
@lxmcf I don't know if the price is high or not... in the past they have paid about $2 per year for every single PC.
For example to include the DVD support in Windows 8 they had to pay $480 milions every year...

So $20 per copy seems a valid price... is like paying 10 years of that license, and you can keep that app forever...
