Once you adjust to the not so filtered results, for dev it’s handy for returning SO answers in the search, dark theme if that’s your thing, although some results don’t equate correctly so you may find the need for a google search from time to time

Search bangs for quick search on some useful sites, the alleged privacy lack of tracking (I haven’t seen anything to actually confirm this yet)

Google is a search engine tailoring results to its idea of you and what you should be interested in.
Google is an advertising agency telling companies what you want to see.
Google is a Santa Clause who gives you presents that collect as much data about you as possible.
Google is a stalker you carry around with you.
Google is a government agent that records everything you do, everything you say, everywhere you go, and what everyone else happens to say about you.
Google is a tracker, following you nearly everywhere you happen to go, online or otherwise.
Google is an analyst that excels at correlating data and making predictions about your future behavior.
Google is a company that fires employees with dissenting views.
Google is a mathematician who can extrapolate and interpolate missing data points with impressive accuracy and precision.
Google is a machine that never tires.
Google is a politician with agendas of their own.
Google is a ventriloquist that can coerce inanimate machines into talking with voices of people, real or imaginary.
Google is an elephant that never forgets.
Google is an American company that must relinquish its data if given a subpoena, court order, inquiry, warrant, or when asked very very nicely.

DuckDuckGo is just a search engine.

As @Root stated basically, you might not always find what you actually want with ddg.

I personally go with both. Ddg as main and when I see the results don't fit my needs (especially when being quite fuzzy with the search query), I go with Google.

Ddg vs google is, when it comes to results, like comparing searching porn in english vs every other language. Of course there are results in said other language. But sometimes they aren't cutting it.^^

To answer the question from an UX perspective: ddg is godlike when searching dev-stuff.
