> my son who is currently running a very successful network engineering company experimented with EMP as a young teenager of 14. His intention was to build a tool (ie gun) that he could walk up to a car with, and emit a pulse that would take out all the operational microprocessors in the vehicle, thus disabling the vehicle. He did quite a bit of online internet research and was developing a hand held emp emitter in a pistol like platform, al be it, it looked more like something from Star Trek. About 2 months into his project, something I had not paid much attention to, I got a menacing letter from The US DOD telling me that if my son didn't cease and desist all research, experiments, and development of his "EMP hand held gun" he and I would be in a world of trouble. The letter came registered signature required, from Washington DC, on DOD stationary
that's concerning. we'll need those vs killer AI drones. must be a human right to EMP -
@jestdotty the right to bear arms includes any and all weapons of ANY kind. The whole purpose is to fight against assholes in the DOD and anywhere else that threaten citizens. Classic government overreach. I hope they jail people behind this kind of shit.

Heh, guess Red Alert is becoming a reality ;P
I believe it's regulated because it's considered radiation. -
@BordedDev then maybe they should regulate carcinogens out of food instead of making a loophole: https://youtu.be/THBd7wiVDPE/...
it's excuses. they're not your friend -
@jestdotty Oh sure, I just know radio waves and radiation are heavily regulated
Look at fucking red 3 in USA -
@BordedDev that only happened recently...
also 5g and Bluetooth are a little sus. they don't care about the 5g people's concerns. they don't care about "emf sensitive" people and their needs. they're like a whole activist group now -
... right I forgot to add extra context
radio waves are regulated because it's necessary for the military and other people to communicate. it's not for health. communication is paramount for authoritarian regimes to be able to coordinate while you cannot, because you are a subjugated peasant and should not be on the same ability spectrum as them so they can remain in dominance
and radiation is regulated because they don't want anyone to have access to nukes. which is to break their ability to defend themselves. the adage goes something like, if you're stuck in a room and one person has a gun you're fucked. if you're all stuck in a room and everyone has a gun then everybody is going to behave and be polite. so by preventing people from having nukes they ensure they get to stay on top and you're subjugated (this generally happens on the level of countries tho)
also the whole nuclear power thing is another angle but that's a whole rabbit hole of other stuff
//"conspiracy" thoughts -
Ah, the right to Bear Arms.
Wouldn't mind having a pair, myself.
