Do you have to be a math genius to program?
I myself hate math but have been programming for a hobby in about 3 years now.

I keep hearing that you have to know a lot of math to program even though i usually only use basic math when i do.

As you said, you'll use only basic maths.. hard maths comes only if the projet depends on it, which is rare tbh

Depends on the kind of work you want to do.

Most web front and backend don't need a lot of math.

I personnaly deal with a lot of science stuff. So 75% of my work is implementing formules from papers and whiteboards to working code. Knowing math becomes pretty important then.

Game development needs a fair bit of math for something more advanced than Flappy Bird

In order to propperly understand why algorithms work you need a fair bit of math. Otherwise, its a monkeys job and you're surely be replaced by bots pretty soon.

The mathematicians have already done all the maths -- the coders are just there to implement the number crunching in software.

I think having passion and dedication in what you're doing is more important, because you can learn everything.
