Is data sciences/ML/AI a subset of web development and networking ? Most of the time i feel people need to know web development tools and languages to be successful in this ML/Ai/datasciences career. Should one go learn web dev first?

Uh excuse me, what the fuck

Uh, you’re pretty late for april fools, you know...

Well you need to have knowledge of JS to make good chatbots, for one.

Not really(if you are serious) as many people in the field apparently weren't even developers to begin with.

@AleCx04 thank god someone took me seriously. And for response to your reply: how come ? I just came from ioextended and discussed there with a guy who said that most of the ML and algorithms are used on cloud servers to begin with. So you can't run from learning server side programming (and ultimately JS and web dev) if you want to get into data sciences.?!?!!

@TitanLannister i mean don't get me wrong. It will definitely come in handy. But i have yet to see a place in which people meet all the requirements that they ask for. Even for ml and data science. I have met great statisticians in the field!!.....that hardly know that Python can be used for more stuff.

Web technologies are far from AI/ML.

If you’re talking about front-end dev, then forget it!

Back-end is closer but only because ML is a back-end technology.

And for your chatbot js thing:

Js can’t really be considered a web language anymore, people want to use it everywhere even if they should not.

@-vim- exactly, nd weather they should/should't i can't comment, but i guess i have to learn js( and as you said, backend ) to start an exploration in data sciences.

Quite a big task tho, it took me 1 year to get some intermediate knowledge/experience of Android( and this i/o ruined it and pushed me back to beginner in so many things.).

I hope by the end of next 2 hears i would get at least that good in server side programming (back-end,shell script, cloud... i gotta check) and data sciences/ml(/ai/gcp... whatever that includes , i gotta check that too 😅)

Here is another stupid question: can a backend developer/development solely exist on its own, or is it necessary to have knowledge of front end too?
( I heard js has a million packages, nd then there are other languages like php Perl, django, cross platformers,..)

Ps: i know web devs reading this are getting red with anger against me, but i am a noob in web dev and you ppl are awesome, learning that much heck of things!!

    @TitanLannister datascience with js!

Man! That’s one of the use case that is inappropriate.

    Use python at least

For AI and ML you need to know maths more specifically statastics.. and then to write the code u can use any language python, R, Js, etc and also a little knowledge of CLI would be a plus point... But most important is maths... So i feel the person who told you must have told you that knowing js and CLI would be plus and you would have named it webdev... Or maybe he would have named it webdev... Its just that the person having knowledge of webdev may have a plus point...

@johnSnow well thanks , mate. You and others have at least cleared my confusion of the relationship between js,webdev and data sciences.

But as vim said, i guess i have to learn backend too, at some point of time coz that's where most of the ML is applied.( Looks like there is no escape from the millions of JS frameworks and their 'too much' relaxed error handling environment. Meh. )

And yes, about this maths thing, am up for it, and a lot excited to checkout jupyter and pycharm . But what with AACs and jetpack, it looks like i got a couple more things in basket to finish before i jump into ML.

@TitanLannister if u want you can surely run from js frameworks by using django, flask and even ruby all you need to learn is just maths later language is just a way to use that maths...
