I recieve a mail from xyz@abc.in and i reply back to the mail and recieve address not found because domain abc.in couldn't be found. I am like wow, and mail was regarding urgency to postpone an interview.

    Check the header, could be spoofed.

    You can easily spoof your e-mail address when you send a message, so you could one day receive an e-mail from someone@fakeasfuck.io and it would be sent from gmail. But doing so to send an actual e-mail which needs an answer, I guess there was some error somewhere...

    Might have been an internal spoofed header, that made it to the outside or just simply spam, as linux said above, check the headers

    If No SPF is specified you could spoof envelope and everything
