I have a little big question

I don't have electricity most of the time but the ethernet cable from my internet provider is still working if i plug it in my laptop.
Except that i have to setup the credential from the provider, user and password.
Now!
I want to plug the ethernet into the raspberry pi (3B+) make it work , because idk where should i enter the credentials and then make hotspot so i can have a router powered up from the power bank.
A pi as router

Is it possible?

Because so far i have seen people who connect the pi to the router but mine requires electricity as any other else.

?? Welp

    damm, no electricity in romania? 😲 dude, save some money and buy some cheap chinese solar cells from alibaba and a battery. Living without power is no fun at all.

    Long story short the owners of idk how it is called didn't pay the maintenance and decided to cut it of ( idk how is called the thing where the electricity goes and then to each user)
    But found out they should have kept it on until the last user leaves

    My router is a vm on my home server running pfsense. So yes, it should be possible to do something similar on a pi.

    PoE anyone? 😂

    @Clear0Ff you're overcomplicating. Use the power bank to run a regular router, most of them will run on anything between six and twelve volts.

    Or set up connection sharing on Debian, its not that much more complex than on Windows. Bear in mind that the WiFi card on the raspberry pi is absolute shit, and won't hold a stable connection unless you're within a metre of it.

    @monr0e my powerbank has an output of 5V at 2A

    found out that what im looking for is PPPOE.

    i know im overcomplicating but have the pi laying there, so i thought i might give it a try

    @Clear0Ff point-to-point protocol over Ethernet? Or do you mean PoE (Power over Ethernet)? The latter is 48v, so be careful.

    @monr0e point-to-point protocol over Ethernet =))

    i will ofc power it throught micro usb.

    @Condor i did something in the past hours, found out that pppoe connections actually don`t require port forward for the port to be seen as open, so i was able to have my web server online just by pluging my ethernet into my laptop and starting the server on port 80.

    Now i just need to make the pi connect , tried with " sudo pppoeconf " i setup and everything but won't work.

    PS - i changed my mind with the router thingy.

    If i can manage to have a little web server or FTP , im happy. especially when not having electricity xD

    @Condor no one will , i guess
    Is a good way to learn web security aswell

    @Condor hmm ...
    I'll try my best .
    Based on that the server is on a raspberry
    I hope that the server will crash at the 1st atack 😂
