Just saw this in an email about 1password:

Automated system restarts. You can automatically enforce restarts on employees’ devices to ensure updates install successfully.
We are adding support for the MSI command-line option /norestart for situations where automated system restarts are not desired.
If system restarts are enforced, we recommend scheduling deployments during off-hours to minimize disruptions.

If my PC restarts without me asking I'm going to smack a bitch (windows does it enough already)

It’s 2025 and Windows still requires reboots to install something. Impressive.

is this a password manager that wants to be able to restart your computers lol?

tell me you're the hacking target and will compromise the whole system

... I also wanna write my own password manager but alas

at least you can still cut the power when the screen starts doing funny things. soon they will take that away from you as well, like they did with phones. cops can remote turn them on and you can't take out the battery. had the cops do it to me. and then it occurred to me why suddenly all smartphones ceased having removable batteries. just so you can't avoid the surveillance state like such =]

@Demolishun @Lensflare I mean if you want a better society you actually have to build one

same reason why we don't is the same reason why nobody else does

@kiki I cannot stand password managers, the only reason for 1password is because the client uses it to distribute keys/passwords

@retoor Yup, soon it will be a npm module that's part of express or react

@retoor I WANTED TO WRITE ONE TO NOT HAVE SECURITY HOLES, NOT TO IMPLANT SECURITY HOLES I DONT EVEN UNDERSTAND

it's ok messing with those proxies I now somehow broke that whole repo and I can't even launch a sub package of it now so I'm updating my whole OS

    goddamnit

    @retoor no no no

instead I'm learning how to do errors properly in rust like those guides I was stubbornly avoiding...

it's entirely a rust problem because rust makes things complicated and I'm perfectionistic

... also I've been drinking so much coffee I feel restlessly understimulated rn and it's distracting / irritating me

... I don't wanna admit those error fiends were right. getting all triggered now coming to their SOMEWHAT conclusion. grrrr. not their entire conclusion. it's like a gem in there that was covered by poop and now you have to admit the poop had a point to it somewhere past 90% of the sludge. but this should reduce a bunch of complexity I was struggling with

    I hate rust

@retoor also begs the question why use a language that you hate? Maybe the same coping mechanism that enables one to use js.
