Microsoft bought GitHub.
2 Ways it will go:

0. They will welcome it
They will make it bigger
And then kill it

1. They will welcome it
They will keep it running
It will be as good as before

Microsoft has no interest in killing GitHub, they are the company with the most employees contributing to open source and it hosts 100% of their open source code base, also GitHub has its flaws without it being owned by Microsoft, even if it probably hosts the most code in comparison to gitlab and bitbucket, IMO it doesn't have the best UI, their mobile site sucks balls, atom who presented a good alternative to sublime, got blasted out of the sky by VScode, students account were a pain to acquire (it was 2 years ago, it may have changed). There's room for improvement and if it gets integrated into the office 365 enterprise/academy packages it will be so much easier to set up corporate and student closed repos (as it is was required by our uni for our final project) and since enterprises and academy already use office 365...
