Although I dislike Microsoft tremendously, I had faith that they wouldn't be stupid enough to fuck up Github. Until I just read an article that the new CEO of Github will be the former CEO and co-founder of Xamarin, who says he wants to "make Github better at being Github".

A hybrid tool creator wants to make Github better. Ladies and gentlemen, we are fucked.

    There is absolutely no chance that Github will stay as good as it is, obviously it won't become any better, as expected.
    Github will get integrated at other Microsoft services and in turn, get them merged in it.
    The user will be forced to use that Quasimodo, as it will come pre-installed with Windows, even if you choose to opt out.
    It will also crush into a blue screen and the slashes will be reversed.

    Let's hope that Musk or any other capable human being will create an alternative service.

    But wasn't he the co-founder of GitHub as well?

    I've already jumped ship on all my own projects. Gitlab away

    So what happens when Microsoft buys gitlab? Mass seppuku?

    Let's not panic, see VScode

    @hugh-mungus Let's agree to disagree.
    Even if I started with Linux when you needed 30 floppy disks to install it and from time to time you needed patch a kernel driver or two :--) I still currently prefer a graphic editor like VS Code or even Jet Brain suite.

    I think it's a good thing we're different.

    Now we have both vim and emacs because someone was different. :-)
