Logging work in Jira, because it goes against the whole ethos of trusting people to get the work done when they have to log exactly how much time they spent on each individual story. It also doesnt account for pair programming. so 2 people log the same time and it looks like the story took twice as long. I’ll stop now because I’m precariously close to opening the “time based estimates” can of worms and thats for another rant.

You have to say how long you worked on things?

god that sucks, i had a former employer that forced down to the minute, its suffice to say i dont work there anymore.

Currently we do estimates for planning out a sprints work but thats about it, if you deliver it then whats the problem?

@C0D4 The problem is project level Key Performance Indicators whereby the business want to see metrics on how much tine in general is being spent on new functionality vs bugs and maintenance etc. And also whether we are keeping close to our estimates in terms of actual time spent.

I have to compete and there is a TV screen showing daily real time minutes logged. The issue is... companies pay a lot for ICT staff....and half of them spend their days on Spotify... People paying the bills want to know where their money was spent

Yeah, because its not like the time wasters won't simply lie and say it took all day
