So I just got the cyber security pack on humblebundle... $15 for a year of PIA, a year of spider oak one cloud backups and a year of Dashlane are the notable ones (I’ll give away the antivirus ones for free since I don’t have windows).

But that wasn’t the awesomest part...

I installed Dashlane and after transferring all my stuff over from LastPass, I went to delete my LastPass

Dashlane autofilled the username...

It’s like so subtly aggressive in an unintentional way. Honestly this password manager Battle Royale is totally worth the $15 regardless.

    Commercial break over. Please continue ranting

    @LeFlawk why would I move to Dashlane?

    @LeFlawk yeah, the propriety makes me a little uncomfortable but I’m not sure which other password managers have such good cross platform integration

    I know I have a long ways to go with actually settling on a system I like that’s also FLOSS

    I take some comfort in knowing that password storage is basically their entire business model so if they screw up they lose all their users and, even worse, all trust in their company.

    I will stay with KeePass. There is no cloud, just someone else's computer. So you're leaving all your passwords with someone you don't know. And this person puts them in the internet...

    @burningcandle encrypted though.

    @A-C-E you wish... :) Especially in this group you should know that there is this one Dev, saying "let's finish this up quick and dirty"... And his colleague who doesn't understand a thing and puts the code in production before testing.

    @burningcandle at a company whose entire existence and trust completely depends on security, I doubt that. Good point though.

    Like Facebook? Like RSA?

    @burningcandle not sure what RSA is and I don’t have a Facebook account, but while I do agree Facebook does depend on security, I feel like being a social platform, a lot of their business is from people who get on Facebook because all their friends are already on it, thus making security not as big of a factor as for a platform like LastPass or Dashlane where it’s pretty individuals-only, making it such that it’s easier for someone to leave since they aren’t kept on the platform because all their friends are on it.

    Ok... http://bfy.tw/ImgR

    A big it security company "lost" a huge amount of private keys for their security products...

    If you still want to stick with a cloud solution, that will lose your passwords and maybe doesn't tell you about it, I wish you good luck, sir :)
