Alright so,

Japan has been deducting my salary every month:

1. Pension
2. Health Insurance
3. Employment insurance
4. Residence tax
5. Income tax

Almost 45% of my salary just disappears.

Also, it seems I can get back the pension when I leave Japan next year, up to 5 years of worth max. BUT IT'S FUCKING TAXED AGAIN.

WTF 20.42% TAX, YOU TOOK MY MONEY WITHOUT MY CONSENT AND NOW YOU WILL TAX IT TO GIVE IT BACK TO ME?? MOTHERFUCKERS.

FUCK YOU.

You have given your consent by going to japan and applying to a job there.

No way, collectivist society models do collectivist things?

The only way to get taxed 45% in Japan is to be filthy rich, making like 40 million yen per year. Which would still put you in the top 1% of earners. Either you’re really bad at math, or you’re filthy rich.

@possum some europian countries have higher rates than japan. europe isn't really known for being collectivistic

@ars1 no I'm extremely poor, I make 20k in usd per year

@sidthepajfuk that would be around 2.8 million yen, which equals a total tax of around 20% if you are a full time employee. Most of it goes to insurance and pension.
I do not know where you are getting 45% from, so I’ll assume you’re bad at math.

Arent pensions tax deductible? So in theory you pay it only once?!

@ars1 ... actually in Canada health insurance and pensions are separate from taxes

so I would assume government taxes are one thing and there's other deductions

we also had unemployment insurance (as a separate charge)

    which is pretty fucking lame

because I'm not gonna apply for any of those things. they're all a scam. my mom raised me on welfare and I have no interest in being humiliated like she was by this retarded system

mandatory "payments" as such are disgusting

... actually in retrospect my job deducted private insurance costs from every paycheque. the kicker? even if I maxed out every health category (the payout is capped by category) I still would've paid more into the insurance than got out

did I mention insurance is a scam. so is pension. give me my fucking money. I manage it better than you.
