As a teenager learning to code on a computer given by my parents

It hurts to see announcements like mobile development has some limitations on 32bit, or Github Desktop, Adobe XD and the new Unity only supports 64bit

32 bit should be dead just like flash already. can't you install an x64 OS?

I don't understand your point. What hurts you about that and how is that related to the first thing you said?

    I might just be stupid.

@justmove let me try that next time when I have no school works to do

@BigBoo it seems like 32bit is getting close to becoming forgotten. It's 32bit because it's an old computer my parents got me

@reiniellematt Yeah. I don't get why it hurts though. I don't see anyone crying about 16 bit processor architecture not running modern software.

I just still might be stupid for not getting the point though.

@reiniellematt I bought my first 64 bit computer in 2006 I think. It was already cheap enough that I could buy it on my salary as a mobile phone salesboy in a 3rd world country.

That computer, today, is almost completely useless.

Its successor was a 2-core (then 3-core) system. That thing can still run decently, but hot. It was maybe 2009. Also cheap back then.

Last year, I built a decent PC with under 300€ on all new parts.

    But that's not the point.

The point is that 64 bit is so old, that the oldest 64 bit computer is no longer relevant anywhere, and right now you can buy a full PC with 4 cores and dedicated graphics card, for just 100€. Nobody even sells anything older. You can probably get it for free from the garbage that companies throw out, but even that would be newer.

The point is that you either don't know that your computer supports 64 bits, or it belongs in the garbage, and a 35$ raspberry Pi 3 B would be a huge upgrade.

@AndSoWeCode I live in a country where 64bit computers are like the "new thing" even though it's so old already

@reiniellematt i find that hard to believe. Which country is it? Unless it's Pitcairn island or something, it should have received at least a lot of donated computers that are older than 5 years, and they all have 64 bit processors.

I don't want to seem aggressive it anything, I just find it unthinkable that any place on Earth isn't filled with 64 bit processors at this point in time. I literally have some lying around doing nothing, like so many other people all over the world. Now I find out that there are still people with no access to such stuff? Please tell me where! I'm sure there will be a lot of people that will be glad to donate their 6 year old laptop or other computer that they're not using, if we can get the word out.
