How comfortable are you with Linux?

If you think youre very confident I recommend arch (no not for memes sake) else I would test out a few random distros in a VM

    Manjaro or antergos.

    Antergos, works great.

Hmm idk but if you are not tied to Ubuntu by software , try Fedora.

What you don't like about Ubuntu Gnome? Hard to give suggestions if we don't know what is the problem and requirements.

    "looks good"?

Like many others said before, it all depends on how much effort you're willing to put in. I would also suggest going for Arch or Arch-based to go further into the rabbit hole, or why not take an step in a completely different direction with NixOS.

Side note: Like @Linux "asked", the "look" on Linux is not bound to any distribution. You are able to get (almost) any look on anything.

Well, if the only reason for wanting to switch is only because you like Manjaro better than Ubuntu then I can assure you that you can get the same Manjaro looks on your Ubuntu as well. Granted, I'm drawing parallels with the GNOME versions of both, so it might be trickier for other Desktop Enviroments/shells.

    Try UbuntuMate

It all comes down to what you prefer - Linux Mint is stable af, so if you'd just like to get the job done without extra hassle go with Mint, or, if you're a masochist and like to spend a few hours per week just to get stuff working, go with Arch.
    Fedora is also pretty good.

Manjaro is nice. I'm having desktop glitches with KDE on two screens, but everything else is great.
