MrMarlin9816y@SubArcticZero ATM i'm using Ubuntu to get used to Linux, without having to read a manual every time i want to do standard things

catadoxa4166yI started dual booting between Linux and Windows about two years ago, switching to Linux for programming and back to windows for games and movies and similar. Now I can't remember the last time I booted into Windows at home. Bought a new laptop in February that I think I only ever booted into Windows once during setup. So yeah, once you figure Linux out you will probably never go back.

I started using linux because windows kept running out of memory and crashing on me. I haven't used it since I switched about 6 months ago. I thought I would hate it but the truth is I could never see myself going back. Welcome to the club, I guess?

Rudi7166yWelcome aboard! Feel free to try all the distros since you don't have to spend $120 for licensing (well... Redhat maybe) but be warned. Once you turn to Gentoo, your life is over. There's no escaping.

MrMarlin9816yThanks for all the responses :D i think i will stay on dualboot until i got a nice environment up amd running, so that nothing is missing. And when i need some windows stuff, there is still wine

Rudi7166y@MrMarlin don't get rid of it cold turkey, just slowly phase it out. Eventually you'll go months without touching the windows partition lol you will become one of us 😈 lower your Shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Resistance is futile

Recently started using Linux for software development and it is waay easier to get things done than on windows. As a beginner in CS and a total Windows person, I am beginning to really enjoy Linux. I will definitely install a dualboot on my Laptop for the new semester in school.
