How fucked are you if someone mistakenly deletes the codebase for Nodejs, reactjs, npm, vuejs, angularjs?

    As long as jQuery survives, I have all the JS I need to function

    Wasm would become so popular over night thought!

    Not affected in the slightest. JavaScript and frameworks for JavaScript, can eat shit.
  • 3
    @Kaji some people are afraid to say things like that, because of all the kewl kids using new JS libs/frameworks. But, the truth is jQuery is still very relevant and powerful.

    @bahua you....i like you
  • 4
    @Kaji same. I don't buy too much into the frontend craziness even though i know all the 3 major ones fairly well.

    I can survive just fine with simple JS and maybe some jquery sprinkles

    Just annoyed. Vannila js can never be killed
  • 1
    It'll be worse for back end devs who only knows Nodejs

    Absolutely Zero!

    I can’t use externally hosted resources in my projects - yea it makes for a large codebase at times.

    I'm not using any.. well sometime vuejs, but i wouldnt care
  • 2
    Not at all

    That's yet another advantage of not doing webdev

    @Krokoklemme you’re missing the fun stuff D:

    @devTea what fun stuff? All this HTML and CSS bullshit? The clusterfuck that JS and its frameworks are? Having to spend money I don't have on domain names and hosting services?
    And on the back-end things don't seem any brighter...

    No thanks, I'm happy with what I'm doing and it's a shitload more fun to me

    @Krokoklemme interesting. So, what are you working on if not web development?
  • 7
    @Krokoklemme you don’t have to learn all of the frameworks, heck you can even do it with vanilla css and js like a boss
  • 2
    @devTea i *could* do it, but I don't want to (I despise CSS and JavaScript to no end)

    @telephantasm desktop apps, tools and recently started doing Android dev

    Believe it or not: but the web isn't all there is

    @Krokoklemme offline desktop apps?
    Isn't that boring lol
  • 2
    @leksyib not really, why? I don't use networking stuff unless I have a reason to
  • 1
    @Krokoklemme well I feel that's going to be a very boring part of programming from my end. I can't do without coding for the web, except if it's a game.
