Why the hell is it when there is a rant that even mentions linux or windows it turns into a linux vs windows debate? I do understand people love their own platforms but honestly when you fanboys provide arguments, they are fucking weak as shit. You want to know the fucking truth? In 2018 there are very few ground-breaking differences between windows and linux. The only reason that I would accept in the linux vs windows debate is privacy. Microsoft could you please review all those "features" that ignore our privacy? By review I mean remove them! Windows has gaming that is a fact, however the amount of games that work on linux are growing exponentially. This whole debate is pathetic! Fanboys !? Could you take your fanboyism and stick it back in your pants... please :)

    I'd wager that rants complaining about OS flamewars are actually more numerous than OS flamewars.

    @bahua That may be the case. Well today I came across min 3 rants that turned into flamewars. Eventually I had enough of the stupidity. If they had valid arguments that would be one thing. The fact that they can't fathom that maybe the other os has the same / similar functionality, that things may be different now than in the past 10 years is mind blowing.

    That´s true for anything where two or more parties are rooting for their own experience.

    Apple vs Microsoft vs Linux

    Coke vs Pepsi

    Audi vs BMW

    I´ve read somewhere, that if you talk bad about something a person likes (be it because of personal experience or belief), it causes some sort of psychological pain and the person automatically gets into defense mode. Most people then don´t know how to react and then try to defend themself by attacking the opposition.

    I see that you have mentioned both Windows and Linux in the rant. I shall now attempt to ignite a flame war.

    Windows > Arch.

    Windows > Arch && Windows < Arch

    Just think about it 😏

    TempleOS is the only acceptable operating system, period.

    The rest of you heathens are going to the bad place.

    There are still valid technical(ish) arguments. Linux has less system overhead, so performance is still better. (Yes, Windows 10 is better than previous versions, no it is not yet equivalent to Linux.) Linux gives everyone access to the code, implying that anyone who develops the necessary knowledge can improve things rather than needing to get a job at Microsoft and be assigned to the right team.

    Also, Linux is straight up flashier if you want that kind of thing. Compiz (and related software) and the various Enlightenment related desktops are the best possible way to show off how amazing a computer can be when doing normal stuff.

    Your point is well taken, though. Arguments should be won on the merits assuming there are any.

    There is no perfect OS because no one made PHPOS yet.

    Windows is a bloated pile of crap that doesn’t deserve to even be counted in the same category as proper operating systems. If you’re honestly defending it I can’t imagine you’ve done much coding for it.
