So, we’ve a small UK based dev team, we follow good practices and get good results. But ‘they’ want to deploy quicker (it was suggested we skip the test phases...) but don’t want to invest in more staff.
So their suggestion is to outsource development to Bangladesh and have us in-house devs work on discovery and innovation.
I’m uncomfortable with this as it feels they are thinking they can get quicker and cheaper dev done abroad (which I hate as it feels disrespectful to my fellow dev brothers n’ sisters).
Also disjointed as in my experience planning and dev’ing work best when you can talk face-to-face.
Thoughts?

The usual 'get 9 women and they will deliver in one month' + 9 in Bangladesh cost one in the UK.
Good luck to you and your colleagues. I've seen this before. The outcome is you guys will have to fix everything . Stress all the place.
If the world was fair, your boss would loose money or even the business. That will not happen.
Evaluate, probability you can move to other company. 80% or more has the same mentality

You will spend AT LEAST as much time for coordination, specification and clarification than what you used to spend on development. Plus the costs of the shit company. In return, you'll get total shit code that has no fucking robustness, no fucking structure and obscure errors. Trying to fix that will take you longer than just writing from scratch.

Face it, cheap developers suck, that's why they are cheap, and good devs will mostly try to get out of such countries at all.

I would not take it personally. Maybe it's really cheaper and more profitable to outsource the development.
