Hey guys, is there any good general programming podcasts that talks about a wide variety of concepts?

I'm just commenting to keep track of this in case someone answers because i don't know of any.

I was thinking of starting one and being the host and having guests every week that talk about their projects. There's a lot to learn and I never knew where to start since the learning curve is huge. Could be motivating for new stack overflowers.

ohh we should make a devrant one where the members get interviewed or something

Hasu that's part of the plan!

@2lazy2debug last episode was in 2017..

IEEE's Software Engineering Radio covers a variety of topics. New technologies, design considerations, how to respond to major crashes, etc.

I also listen to Programming Throwdown. It's two programmers talking about stuff.

@BeardedVillain I'd be up for casting with you!

I don't have any good sides though. I'm a student, French, and I don't have interesting projects. I like to cast though, but I'm not sure that has any value :)

I'd be 200% into the idea of inviting devRant members also!

I personally like the NDC conference talks on youtube (they often focus on .net stuff (which I don't use normally) but are nice as a generic programming talk

If you like security obviously defcon and blackhack talks

If you speak german, take a look at ccc, they have a huge archive of all their talks.

CodingTech youtube channel has a lot of really good talks about a wide range of topics.

Ne te sous-estimer pas même si tu parles français @TheOct0

@tomahawxer thank you! This is more in line with what I had in mind. I want to hear people talk about what they're working, what they're passionate about and what motivates them. Not what they think is the future because it's very generic and everyone has their own opinions about it. I've went to a conference about AI presented by ElementAi and it was very generic because of what I mentioned above.

@BeardedVillain Nice! Kinda sloppy but the intention is awesome :D

I like to think I speak English fairly well, but my accent is still a thing :(

@Wack my German is basic, I'm able to hold a okay-ish conversation and I get lost in tv shows so I'll avoid that for now.

I'll check blackhat talks soon seems interesting.

Theres no podcasts so far for novices that except the changelog that had a few interesting talks.

@TheOct0 my autocorrect messed it up. Lmao. French is the language I use daily. I have no choice while living in Montreal.

@BeardedVillain Well that was unexpected :P

I get the frustration of typing in another language than the one your keyboards is autocorrecting D:

Messed that sentence up but oh well

@BeardedVillain some of their talks are in english, might be worth checking out (either youtube or media.ccc.de)

Well call me nuts but why don't some of us join up and make a small thing that pools all these sources together in a single spot?

The tools are there just slapping them together is what we need.

Oh and Computerphile on youtube is pretty cool too

Thank you everyone! I want to bring something to the table that has value, I don't want to create a podcast that talks about how to confront a shitty colleague but something that will be rather motivating for beginners and more advanced devs like you are.

Most of the podcasts talk solely about technology and I find it's too much as a beginner when I'm trying to learn about oop that someone talks about concurrency and explains it like I have years of experience.

Interesting thread, will subscribe to all the podcasts submitted so far. I'd be cool with being a guest in a devRant-specific one as well. Lots of stuff to rant about and bring to life with vocal rants, many questions to (try to) answer. Sounds like a great idea!

@BeardedVillain I'll just wave my username in your face again, but I'm volunteering to help create that :)
