Atom, of course. Why? Price. ;)

Atom. Even though it is a bit heavy on the RAM, I still enjoy using it.

I came here to see a vim debate. I was disappointed.

Highly customizable with Tons of useful packages.
SFTP plugin!
Jump to file or method by just typing it's name.
Lightning fast workflow in my oppinion.

@dcode give a try to atom once. it is hackable. and let us know ur opinion abt it via blog post. I do not use sublime. in return I can tell u abt brackets vs atom.

VS Code, because monthly updates and improvements. many useful Plugins and nice git Integration.

Both are super nice! Atom was winning over my love for sublime but then I began to have problems where atom wasn't remembering my config for indentation for specific files and that was it! I switched back to sublime. That was a long time ago though, probably the bug was fixed already... *dusts of atom*

I never could work with atom after working with sublime because of the speed. Sublime feels much faster. I however heard that VS Code is similar to atom but faster. Never the less, Sublime seems to not be actively developed, or at least not as much as the other two, so I vote for *flip a coin*...

Brackets. Customizable plus lots of plugins.

Why I like Atom:
- customizing the look & feel of any part of the editor is easy since Atom is built with HTML & CSS
- the packages available are amazing! Almost all the packages I used on Sublime have been ported already.
- built-in terminal
- awesome community & quick release cycles

try Atom first. if sublimes extras are still appealing, then buy that.

I'm a Sublime user, mostly because I like the minimalistic interface and the scroll map on the side. There are lots of fun shortcuts too, like CMD+/ to comment lines of code. I would also recommend IntelliJ! You can hop to where methods or objects are defined, which is an especially beautiful feature to have when working in a new code base.

@benrooke yep, atom has (or can have with plugins) all those too. So you can give it a spin if you like :)

atom because of seti ui theme, people making great snippet plugins and the fact you can run gulp build scripts within it.

I prefer Atom with Git-Plus. I also have a few SASS plugins and a linter for it. It's really quite joyful to use. It's especially fun to use Atom with the Terminal plugin. If you like watching immediate results using gulp watch, having a terminal just below the editor is awesome. I also have mine kitted out with Oh My Zsh and the bureau theme for It so I have git status and a time stamp at a glance while I'm committing my code.
