I hate people who dog on wsl

Windows subsystem Linux

I use it. It has been wonderful. No problems that Google couldn't fix. Always a patch or an update.

And I can use Windows just fine.

No dual boot needed, no bullshit wine needed, no having to do without Photoshop

There,.. I'm out of the closet

My uncle showed me how to use it ok mom and dad

I'm starting a wsl parade who's in

I was like that at first but for me it ended up bad fast :( glad it's being good with you but i still prefer separating windows from linux, one machine for each, if using the same machine then separate disks.

Regardless of that above good for you

@Ratsuky what specifically was the last straw for you

I'll admit, you have to be aware of a few... Shall we say.. Features

    Or it'll trip you up

I like that users have the option of using Linux on windows but on the contrary I hate that for some people this is a reason not to use a real Linux system over a closed source and possibly backdoored system (Microsoft has a way too cozy relationship with the nsa)

    @theKarlisK

One thing that isn't well known, and really should be, is that you can't access your ubuntu files from Windows, but you can access your windows files from ubuntu

so this causes serious problem if you don't know, like for instance, if you think you can run Sublime from Windows..... or if you store your project files on your windows path

you'll be in for some .... shall we say... unpleasantness

that should really be more obvious, I discovered that in an obscure google search one time

and I was actually looking for something else

@theKarlisK yeah I remember there were workarounds

and there are a lot of workarounds you have to be aware of, like Xlaunch for example for GUI or whatever, I forgot all of them it was a haze of a 3 day dev environment setup like 18 months ago

but, I rememgber thinking.. nah, I ain't fucking with this, I"m gonna keep my files on Ubuntu and leave it at that

I almost lost all my project files because of this
