show him some website builders like wix and then tell him about js and the rest that make a good website

i may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure you can write windows store apps in javascript - can start there

    look here:
    http://mobile.htmlgoodies.com/html5...

also lots of resources on channel9 website.

when i first sat in on a metro app preview talk i thought they looked a really neat idea and better than windows forms/wpf - i ended up building a couple of pocs and it was all pretty cool and then we ditched in favour of mvc. screw metro/store apps.

not sure why in this day and age you would tie yourself down to windows only apps - well unless your friend is building the next photoshop/3dsmax etc..?

@lemonthinking thanks for the tips good ideas, but he hates javascript got scarred by it 10 years ago and refuses to look at it. he has nightmares about js still

@DavidKevork he has 15+ of experience in coding i dont think wix can impress him he knows js he used it a long time ago but refuses to see that it has changed

@neumann show him a different flavour (jQuery, angular, react - or 1million others) and don't tell him is javascript - in fact just say hey look at this fancy new thing replacing javascript - they call it Ecmascript. how did he get scarred by javascript anyway? i mean maybe go with typescript as that is closer to Microsoft coding and gives you compile time checking if he doesn't like the dynamic nature of js?

@SirPally i did show him angular and ionic framework. still not be convinced. For mobile he thinks that native apps are the answer.

also showed him js on the server side and database side nodejs, mongodb - he thinks thats the worst idea ever

@neumann has he looked at typescript?

@lemonthinking yes i also told him that Anders Hejlsberg is the createor of C# and Typescript.

    ... hopeless

No one should ever "love JavaScript". Tolerate it, learn it, utilize it, make it your bitch, sure. But never love it.

@AshMountDigger but everyone should love the web 😍 right?

@neumann hahhhahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah.... Oh, wait, were you serious? 😜

Seriously though... Native, web, it's all the same to me. I work on both and each has its place. The argument that one is better than the other is ridiculous. Just like languages. Each has its place, unless it's Java. Java should die a horrible, painful, withering death and be cast off into an abyss of hellfire and hatred. But other than that, yeah. 😄
