Appropriate username is appropriate. :P Seriously though, congrats! Don't you have to be conscious for that kind of procedure? Because I sure as hell wouldn't be able to do something like that while awake. D:

@Navigatr thanks, yes you are conscious but your eyes are anesthetized so it's painless during, the after is a bit painful but it can be managed with mild painkillers (paracetamol was enough for me). The procedure is about 20 minutes long.

@PrivateGER well it requires your myopia to be stabilized so it doesn't evolve after surgery but a skilled surgeon can over/under correct your vision to prevent such cases. My surgeon will operate again free of charge if my vision change during the next year.

@hasu yes, they give you bromazepam (anti-anxiety meds) so you don't freak out + anesthesia for your eyes (eye drops) so it's as little invasive as possible

@hasu lol, it's nothing so scary. Myopia is near-sightedness i.e the condition in which you slowly lose the ability to focus on far objects. It's the most common reason for people having spectacles/contact lenses. The other, less common one is hypermetropia, which is similar but reversed - you slowly lose the power to focus on near objects (people who need "reading glasses" have hypermetropia).

@RememberMe your surgeon will warn you, there's a small chance of infection if you don't follow your doctor's instructions, basically don't touch your eyes and put your antibiotics drops.

@RememberMe You also can get problems with different light conditions. Up to night blindness. That's the reason I don't do it. Can't image not to drive my car at night or at bad light conditions.

I once had an eye surgery because I heavily squinted. Was awful, and I need glasses to correct for the rest deviation so that laser for correcting my around 2 dioptres wouldn't help.

Did you do that because the glasses were becoming really thick, or more for beauty reasons?

@Fast-Nop I pretty much did it because I could and because I could and because I was tired of looking through dirty glasses 80% of the time, also not have tout look for my glasses in a haze when I wake up is priceless
