at your workplace, do you get to work on different languages or do you all stick to just one language?

is there anything wrong with being jack of all trades?

Jack of all trades makes life complex and challenging -I love it.

I do PHP, Python, JS, and their DBS counter parts along side of Salesforce on a daily basis and change between the often through the day.

But, In saying that.
Don’t be a jack of all trades if you don’t know at least 1 major language well.

Personally I think it's good to specialize but branch out to get a good rounded idea of what there is if you can. I

I started in PHP but moved slowly in to JS then React and now a digital strategist. It means I can be obnoxious and grumpy in whole new ways about lots of different things.

@C0D4 Life would be complex if I'd need to do everything that's required in only one language.

I do Node.js, Golang, React as well as DevOps stuff (AWS, Linux Server Maintenance etc). I think I'd get bored if I only wrote one language all the time.

Like most companies have generic designations like software engineer, but when it comes to hiring one, they want a specialised developer. I’m sure most of you would do fine if interviewed for one of such technology, but would their HR consider you for the role?
