@mcraz didn't directly affect me, but I heard about a gang of friends when I was in high school, three of them were chain smokers, one guy who follows them around and were good friends with them was affected by all the passive smoking. (lung cancer)

The other three guys weren't affected in the slightest. They felt guilty for the rest of their lives. They launched campaigns for anti smoking, they made awareness videos, they couldn't touch a cigarette for the rest of their lives. If they see someone smoking, they go up to them and strongly advice them against it.

How do they save lives?
