You know apple has its dick deep inside your ass when you buy a Macbook pro with no discrete gpu for game development(unreal engine) and then shell out $1500 for a fried cpu.

OS X laptop for gamedev? Man get your shit together.

They are right, laptop for game dev is a bad choice all together. I would go even further: A mac for game dev is a terrible choice.

My rant is about apple sheeps who buy nothing but apple products for for everything just because "iTs aPpLe". My friend recently went for a Macbook pro despite being warned by almost everyone.

    $1500 for a CPU ? NO.

Here is what the price tags of apple products in general.

    30% - operating system
    30% - brand price ( plus design cost )
20% - retina screens ( the ones which has it )
    %20 - hardware prices

And everybody probably knows it. A lot of companies overprice their products up to %20000 for the sake of brand ( mostly clothing companies ), so why only blame apple ?

They can overprice their product as much as they want. Solution ? Don't buy it.

@illegaldisease apple care suggested him to get a new Macbook instead of getting the old one fixed. Guess what? He brought a new one. Lol.

Also apple care is a total rip off. See Louis Rossman's videos on YouTube.

@HarleyQuinn Totally depends on what is broken.

@illegaldisease I just mentioned that it was a fried cpu(processor). The thing more toxic than apple care is the apple fanboys. If you still insist on defending them still then I think I know who else has got apple deep into them.

@irene it's illegal to keep apple spare parts with you unless you are an apple certified technician and to be apple certified you need to work at apple care. Also almost everything on their shitty motherboard is soldered.

@ilikeshred all macs are laptops in my view.
They use underpowered CPUs because the case is too small to cool a real one.
Their GPU can be fried by ESD on a USB device, for example, their keyboard(because fuck isolation and grounding, it's designed for morons)
And the soldered ram doesn't really make things better.
Buy a PC instead. And 5 kgs of semtex to fix your Mac.

@irene yeah... Crapple is probably the only organization that's pro screwdriver control... πŸ€”

This video shows how shitty apple has become https://m.youtube.com/watch/...

@HarleyQuinn I thought fried CPU was a metaphor for the device heating up too much, i didn't think it literally, sorry.

Apple CPU's are embedded into motherboard, so they would need to replace the whole motherboard. In that case, asking to buy a new one was a dickish move.

I don't own any single apple device. I am not a fanboy, nor a hater. I just want to criticize and give credit to everything equally.

So Your friend is loyal to a brand beyond your understanding , and you come to internet to blow off your steam . Asking a friend for advice and not following it's not a dick move coming to internet to write shit about it kinda is . I used mac for years and they were good years and prepared me for my Linux years ahead .

@Avimelekh being loyal to a brand which is ripping him off is fair? Also nobody knows my or his identity. Using a Mac prepared you for your Linux years? You sound like a hippy 12yo who is butthurt.

@ilPinguino Fair enough, i would be the one to argue you with that. I'm the type of person that say that All-in-One are Immobile Laptops!

I would only correct one thing! Their keyboard are not made FOR morons but BY morons.

@illegaldisease I've worked for a 3rd party that took calls for AppleCare. I only could handle the 3 week of training before getting the fuck out. For the training, it's minimal knowledge they offer about the product you support. I didn't learn much, everything is locked so i couldn't even learn properly (no notes can be taken also). They told me to buy the product to know it better. I only learned about their policies and all the reason they want to fire you. The pay is shit, less than any tech job i saw!

Apple Care is mainly to convince people buying other Apple products, or fixing basic issue to give the impression they do something. "Let's factory reset the tablet sir" is the kind of tech mentality they have. They don't especially said that it was because they want you to up-sell, but they give you a brief overview on how they want you to handle the calls and it's mostly come to proposing a new product... WHICH IS up-selling in my book... I'm not a sale person, so fuck Fapple.

@ilikeshred That really sucks. Buying the product yourself to know it better ? That just means no wage for an extra month. That is a total killswitch, i alm glad that you left as soon as possible.
