LED! Please, embedded programmers: STOP blinking LEDs, if you don't require immediate attention!!

That phone that would blink through the night charging, I had to put a blanket on it D:<<

I always have a roll of black electrical tape for that very purpose. Mine's the flashing fucking printer.

Oh! The worst of all. I had one on a MOTHER F*CK*ING KEYBOARD!! (the musical instrument).

It would blink at 120 bpm because it was the rhythm machine default. Event if you weren't using it, it would blink. Try to play something at 110 bpm with this in your face, so BRAIN DEAD!!!11one

Putting a blanket on a charging device is a really bad idea dude.. You do know they heat up while charging right. Note 7 goes to like 41C while charging.. Let it breathe. If the led is bothering you just turn the phone upside down, or install a custom rom that allows you to switch it off!

The worst thing is when you feature request for it to be an option, and they reply with "we don't support that feature"

goddamn it that's why i contacted you

I discovered how to enable it on the pixel phones, my old Nexus 4 had a colour changing led, periodic flashing red was low battery, slow pulsing white/blue was a notification, green meant someone was calling, I think anyway. It's been a while and I don't know that I ever dedicated myself to learning them all...

Point is, I liked it so much I enabled it on my phone cos I keep my phone on silent all the time. The amount it beeps or vibrates at work is unreasonable, so having a little led that can tell me roughly what's going on means I can silently deal (or not) with what it's alerting me to.

@nmunro that's true that the LED on my former nexus 4 and current 5X doesn't disturb me as much.

@Gauthier Maybe it's just a matter of manufacturers being a little more subtle with it then?
