I'm making a telegram bot to allow printing and scanning for my roommates that have Windows and since printer and scanner are prehistoric there are no drivers that work with Windows higher than XP.
I'm looking for more ideas on features for bot.

    Raspberry pi (or anything you use to interface with the printer and telegram servers) cost is not greater or eq than a new printer?

    I already have 3 raspberries and toner cost for this printer is about 10-15 dollars for 12k pages.

    Also I'm bored to death on sick leave ;)

    @shelladdicted not everything is about cost efficiency

    @Codex404 absolutely
    If @wupewu is doing this for fun have fun!

    But doing this because you need a working and reliable printer.
    Just buy a new one.
    nobrand toner are cheap nowdays.

    Well, it work flawlessly on any Linux distro I was using and that's enough for me to consider printer reliable. In printer case I'll just probably add it to cups on rpi and try to use it with generic driver on Windows machines. ;)

    Certain command that prints a page in landscape saying 'KORWIN KRUL'

    @wupewu fucking genius. That would be really great for quick and easy printing even from mobile... Maybe make it interactive so you can choose what pages to print form a pdf!

    @eval good point :)

    I made something similar, but it works through a regular browser: https://github.com/kovaacs/...

    @620hun isn't there anything provided bt default in the admin panel of CUPS?

    @mt3o isn't CUPS printer-only?

    @wupewu for scanning you have SANE. I think it needs separate program to prepare all the settings but I can be wrong. Its little more complicated. And perhaps someone already made a webgui for SANE. Don't know, never had to learn.

    @mt3o It’s super limited and only used for printing config. It’s also a real pain to use 😂

    There are SANE web guis, but I found them to be really crap.

    @620hun last time i had to deal directly with CUPS, it was on some MAC, where I was compiling linux driver for the printer, because native drivers were too old for OSX. 😂

    @mt3o not much has changed, I’m afraid 😛

    Careful, telegram bots are publically accessible by anyone. Last thing you want is a random guy on the internet finding your bot and bombing you with tons of shit to print!
    (Or do you? 🤔)

    @endor I'll just accept only 3 people to use it, rest of messages will be rejected
