This is utter bullshit. Repo shut down because SJW being offended. Python, then Linux, now this.

Next thing we know is GitHub got sued bc they hosted the bot. Then Microsoft. Then the internet is taken down because it serves as a vector to offend ppl.

Really. Fucker need to know when to stop.

    People are soft as fuck.

Might as well just cut our tongues out like in the Hunger Games that way we can't offend these wusses.

    Dev's announcement
  • 10
@Stuxnet Really. Cut their tongues, make them eat the cooked tongue with red wine or some shit. They need to fucking chill.

Edit: Simpler solution is to never code altogether, every dev. Then we watch the world burn with champagne in our hands shouting 乾杯

@irene Like the fucking arsehole that begin this mess. No line of code on Opal yet wanna kick a senior due to being "offended"
  • 12
@PythonTryHard it is that never punished kicking that gets the ball rolling, they kick, use argumentum ad hominem whenever they can and never get actual punishment for it, that fuels other maniacs to always top the last attempt of stretching the margins.

I never understood why such a mental minority is endorsed, protected and not extinguished.
  • 4
    @JoshBent Paraphrase....?
  • 9
@PythonTryHard argumentum ad hominem is an argument trick when you basically attack somebody as a person trying to discredit all his arguments therefore, e.g. "He's a bigot and nazi"
  • 7
@JoshBent "Let's argue the problem" "No we're not bc you're a fucking bigot!"

Please don't tell me it's like that.

Please don't let them find the hentai uncensoring neural network.

Someone got triggered and down voted this lol

Jesus Christ they're penetrating dR too 😕😕

    Where is a good clone?
  • 6
I'm fed up of this shit.

They're screwing up our meritocratic subculture.

I'm offended by their behavior but I guess it doesn't count.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes?
  • 2
@PaperBag lmao, today I learned there's something like that in the wild
  • 1
@SauceBoss It's all good now lmao.

But I had ++'d it and then it was at 0 when I commented

@bkwilliams could just ask the creator to host/mirror on gitlab or preferably gitea selfhost, doubt he worked remote only and purged local repo each time.
  • 2
@irene indeed, though it is better to get it from the source itself and him mirroring it, since he most likely has had local changes not yet pushed.
  • 1
@irene god speed to the creator I guess haha
  • 3
**emails github** I AM DOING MY PART. (I hope I don't get banned)
  • 1
as much of a dickmove as the takedown is, there have to be more mature ways of handling this situation. but then again, I didn't have my repo taken down...
  • 6
@irene this is not even democracy, it's just a vocal minority that is winning because giant companies are afraid to lose a few customers over someone getting offended on the internet.
We need people with a fucking spine to stand up against this bullshit

@PythonTryHard maybe you could [suggest to] move that repo to Gitlab? Free CI/CD btw ;)

@endor Never understood why ppl break their backs to please the minority groups of people when the majority is what should be the concern.
  • 2
@FuzzyMyztiq 1) This post is addressing "transphobia," meaning it's dealing with trans ppl. Trans ppl make up 1.4 million Americans, which is around 0.5% of the population. Less than 50% qualifies it as a minority in my book, so I'd say 0.5% if a minority group, wouldn't you?

    2) Statistics. That's how you know if a group is a minority group. It's not rocket science...
  • 4
@Stuxnet because sometimes a loud minority can cause actual damage :/
    Yay for mob mentality
  • 9
@FuzzyMyztiq This doesn't have shit to do with empathy....

This is about companies being pussies when a few people complain about something and then buckling. You want an example?

University of Maryland's football coach was suspended after an investigation found he had created what was referred to as a "toxic culture" in the locker room. This investigation stemmed from a player dying after a practice.

After a few month suspension, they decided to reinstate him as head coach. The very next day, they fired him because people got mad at them on social media. Now I'm not saying he should have been reinstated, but if you're going to fire him, fire him because you believe it's what's best for the program, not because Jane and John on Twitter got mad at you.

That's what my comment is about, and that's what I interpreted from the comment I was replying to.

Have a nice night because I'm done with this discussion. It's pointless and unnecessary.

There are no minorities on the net, as long as you can write basic English.
There is no need to wiggle your existing or absent genitals and skin colors into anyone's virtual face, and then blame your shit code not being accepted on some kind of majority-minority dynamic.
  • 3
    @FuzzyMyztiq Can you prove it?

I think @Stuxnet gave facts instead of vague assertions.

No offense meant, I'd like to understand your point of view but it's very hard without any facts.
  • 4
@karasube Looks like FuzzyMyztic deleted their comments.
  • 5
Done my part :) hopefully the repository will be restored soon.
(Also feel free to reuse the text in this mail in part or even as a whole. The more mails, the merrier!)

@irene and who decides who did something "useful"? Python Dev team's discussions on election, meritocracy, choosing benevolent dictatorship, is excellent study in my opinion. Things that sound simple in theory are extremely complicated in real life.
  • 7
@Zombiesen Does that really require study? My mother taught me how code of conduct works in the real world when I was still a little kid. Treat others like you'd want to be treated yourself. That's all - don't be an ass, and treat others with the respect that you'd want other people to treat you with as well. Of course, the LGBTQ++ community on Twitter clearly missed this. Calling people misogynistic assholes from the evil meritocratic patriarchy just because they've got a Bratwurst between their legs, yet being surprised that others feel like they're insane - talk about hypocrisy.
  • 1
@Zombiesen Imagine submitting a function that adds two number to NumPy. That's not useful.
  • 2
@mordax Do reduce two shits to "half a shit"
  • 1
For everyone interested, github will only talk yo the owner of the repo
  • 1
It's in everyone's interest to help those on our teams who are least accommodated.

Hatred doesn't help. Apathy is your enemy. Clear eyes, full hearts and respect the Scientific Method.

If you have a belief that can’t be questioned or disputed or refuted, then what you have is an article of faith. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Everyone needs faith in their life and the special magic of theological religions (including SJW and the I ❤️Science group) is to invest that faith in a belief that is fundamentally beyond the reach of empiricism. Faith is a rallying point and if we all agree to loudly believe something that is obviously false, then we are sending an expensive signal of group allegiance.

If they're just gonna mass-flag our shit for being insensitive, can we mass-flag shit like alex for being TOO sensitive?
