I used to have an apple mouse, bought by work. I kinda liked it but it's kinda small. It's the all touch one (magic mouse maybe), scrolling was the worst thing about it so a physical scroll ball sounds like an improvement.

We can all have our redemption arcs. I was a hardcore Nintendo fan back in the day... That is, until they made the bullshit decision to delay super smash bros brawl for 6 months in Europe, just to space its release with their nth bullshit Mario kart.
Next day I chipped my Wii and my DS, pirated SSB brawl and never gave them a single cent ever again.
Nowadays they only have like one or two games worth playing anyway, and emulators allow me to enjoy them to the fullest, and not that console wannabe the switch is. -
Glad you're enjoying the mouse.
I remember having a small Apple store near where I originally lived.
It must've been more than 20 years ago, during the 90s.
The salesman was praising the Apple's one-button mouse design.
I found it strange.
How the fuck do you get confused by having two mouse buttons that you would think having one is superior? -
The track pad from the mac books are even better. I think you can even buy an external one.

kiki378236h@D-4got10-01 there are two virtual buttons. Click with both fingers or with left finger means left click. Click with right finger means right click
Then there are the third virtual button that is triggered by squeeze. Also, click while pressing trackball down means middle click -
@CoreFusionX We have mice w/ 10+ buttons nowadays, so...
Either way, liking any type is fine - whatever works for you, I say. -
@kiki !sure this functionality was from the beginning. Would have to check that.
I think initially the right-click was done via Command + Mouse Button.
But my memory might be misleading me here. -
kiki378236h@D-4got10-01 basically, if you close your eyes and forget that there’s just one physical button, it just about works like a normal mouse would. The only thing you can’t do with Mighty Mouse is clicking both left and right mouse buttons at the same time
-
kiki378236h@D-4got10-01 you’re confusing it with the old Mighty Mouse, half transparent one without trackball. It indeed has just one button. mine works exactly the same in Mac, windows and Debian. Maybe in ubuntu and mint too, but I didn’t try
-
@kiki Well... I wasn't talking about your new mouse. I was talking about the old mouse I had heard about during the early days of Apple.
They have evolved, much like the rest of the industry. -
kiki378235h@D-4got10-01 sorry, I didn't get that. I disagree though: magic mouse is a huge downgrade from mighty mouse. it's just unbearable. I remember my first full-time job: they gave me an imac with magic mouse. by the end of first day my right hand was cramped like never before
Yes, I had the opportunity to buy any mouse in the world, but I picked a weird apple one with one physical button acting as two separate buttons, a trackball for scroll wheel (it's neat to scroll horizontally though, not gonna lie), virtual middle button, virtual squeeze sensor and a tiny internal speaker. Yes, I'm an idiot.
But hear me out. When I was a child, I accidentally wandered into an apple store. I was blown away by what their UIs looked like (it was a Leopard era, maybe Tiger, I'm not sure). I still remember how I approached a desk where an iMac stood, and this was the mouse it came with. This. This very mouse was my first experience with apple. and oh boy, how memorable it was, and how much I wanted a macbook of my own.
Apple still means a lot to me. It's so unfortunate that their privacy approach went real bad real fast. Somehow when people say that nintendo, which is a shitty anti-consumer company, means a lot to them, it's suddenly okay, because that shitty anti-consumer company is based in japan. mark my words, if apple was a japanese company, it would've been much worse, but it wouldn't have been hated as much.
I now possess my childhood dream, or at least its fragment: the best mouse that apple ever made. it feels comfy and substantial. modern flat magic mouse is a disgrace. if you're still an apple user (my condolences), buy a mighty mouse on ebay. wireless ones do exist, they take regular batteries.
Oh, and this mouse works perfectly with Debian out of the box. If you pair it with a Mac, you can see probably the oldest bit of UI that's still in modern os --- the mighty mouse settings panel. It's there, unchanged since the 2000s.
