I've experienced a similar issue earlier. Uninstalled Photos and Paint 3D through PowerShell, installed IrfanView, opened a photo..
Windows: "yOU wAnE oPeN tHiS iN pAiNt 3d, RiGhT?!"

BUT PAINT 3D IS FUCKING UNINSTALLED, FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT!!!!

    … Yeah.. Windows "feature".

Just go to Settings, and set Irfanview as default for Photos. The underlying issue is going to be fixed in the next Windows feature update (the one that was pulled due to data loss)

@alvarlagerlof There's a solution. It's called not immediately recommending a switch to a different OS if you have no fucking clue about the situation of somebody.

Hi, did you solved the problem with irfanview? BW, Tino

@irfanview-de troll account or actual irfanview support/dev? either way I haven't yet tried to set it as the default inside the metro settings as suggested, but can try it in the next hour or two and tell if that works.

@irfanview-de setting it as the "default" app in the metro settings solved it.
