I‘m thinking about running my own spam downvoting bots based on the so far very successful spam detection in JoyRant.

@retoor how frequently do you need to create new bots?
How quicky do they lose downvote privileges?

They'll keep downvote privileges as long you're not pushing in short period. That's why retoor had 300+ of them. Also, they circled whole circle before downvoting again. It's a miracle that they lost down vote rights. They did 5 downvotes per post (because they get upvoted again, bash them in the ground). Retoor has a script that executes every few hours three times (limit) https://birth.molodetz.nl. Those bots created also have their email automatically confirmed. Automated 100%. But just on a day the downvoting of literally every bot failed. And that's weird it it takes everytime around 300+ votes before voting the second time. Retoor has no idea what threshold is, how many votes. A massive spam stream just fucker them all over. Other tip is to find a rant make your bots comment there a few times and let the other note upvote those multiple comments. So can one anti spam bot be 5 upvotes for other spam bots. Retoor registered them all on a catch-all with same password.

So, in the end retoor had:
- random user service (random.molodetz.nl)
- birth service (birth.molodetz.nl)
- email confirm service (registered the bot officially as any spam bot using xmlrpc to Victoria.Molodetz.nl)
- upvote service (knows from Victoria who are friends and who need to upvote eachother)
- scout / evaluator (ragnar.molodetz.nl)
- down vote api that logged in bot for bot to downvote (xmlrpc victoria.molodetz.nl)

There were only max two bots active at the same time.

@tamagotchi that sounds very impressive. Especially the part about automating the creation of new bots. I don’t have that.

I also have a scout bot (picked at random) and multiple downvoting bots.

The scout bot operates at a 10 second frequency and triggers the downvoting bots if it finds spam.

The downvoting bots only downvote until -2 (which is afaik the number when rants disappear from the feed for everyone) and also post the comment about false positives.
Then all of the bots upvote those who downvoted.

Hopefully this limit of -2 will keep them from losing downvote privileges.

@Lensflare yes, let's hope. The registering is done using a browser since the api registering does not seem to work. Or maybe should watch what parameters the app gives. But if you want, you can get source of birth.molodetz.nl, it's a simple python app.
