    Sometimes rough estimates - especially in large corps - can also become FP's (forever projects). I'm talking years instead of months. Ouch.

    Hard deadlines from rough estimates are the worst. From my experience that usually happens because of bad management.

    that's why you always double your estimates. just in case..

    Yeah some 'wiggle room' and then bring it in early. Missed deadlines are bad.

    Unless your project dies, it's not a deadline. to use someone else's phrase. let's call them sadlines
