    To bring them together you need empathy.

    But is the target there.. or isn't it? Schrodinger's target?

    And:
    "Coffee reaches locations motivation can't!"

    @TheAnimatrix What the hell does bloody emotion have to do with skill and ability?
  • 2
    @Root but don't you know about this thing called "post-meritocracy" yet? 🙃
  • 6
    @Condor Post-intelligence, more like.
    Post-ability, post-skill, post-productivity, post-fucking-useful.

    Oh no. Someone's feelings might get hurt! Whatever shall we do!? They'll feel bad for a few minutes. END OF THE FUCKING WORLD.

    @Root You really made my day! 😁

    Post-Meritocracy-People don't contribute anything useful anyway. 😉

    @Root unless you have emotions, you won't be able to identify what the hell you're going to do with your skills, what problem are you gonna solve ? Thereby connecting intellect and talent.

    Ex: you have a talent to build structures
    You have intellect to plan those structures
    Now imagine you feel sad for the poor people who have to swim a mile to get to the other side, what do you do?

    @TheAnimatrix Cry about it.

    @wifi an action that would lack intellect so not really a choice for someone who was it.

    Empathy isn't crying or that sort of stuff.

    At the end of the day you're solving one problem or the other.
    It could be as trivial as your own boredom or something crazy like space travel.
    Empathy has to do with identifying solutions to problems any object/living thing other than you could/ is facing.

    Empathy towards the world brings up ideas like harvesting solar energy to prevent further damage to the world.

    If your motivation is money for your own luxury, you would be limited to solving luxury related problems maybe design couple houses and stuff. Nothing that doesn't already exist.

    empathy hasn't really to do anything with that. More curiosity and urge for change in making life easier and more comfortable.
    And having time for other things.

    @TheAnimatrix You keep using that word.
    I do not think it means what you think it means.

    Empathy is, by definition, feeling someone else's emotions. That has little to nothing to do with identifying useful or helpful projects. You do not need empathy.

    Example:
    I am a callous and heartless bitch. I'm an INTJ who would much rather stab an emotion than entertain it. I still want to design and build automated vertical farms with next to zero waste. Why? It helps address a problem (food shortage, quality, price, logistics requirements), it's an interesting challenge with an obvious solution I am able to do, and it reduces labor requirements through automation. Does the project help people? Yes. Do I care about people? Not in the least. Amount of empathy involved: zero.
