Okay, legit.

I have protanopia (red color blindness) and red text on a screen is always difficult to focus my eyes on. It's like I have different focal points for the screen in general and red text. Is this just a me thing, or am I onto something?

    @evilcoder they're actually really annoying. They act like sunglasses and aren't made for everyday wear. Since I was born like this, it doesn't really bother me at all, so no worries, just inconvenience. But is this just a me thing? Is red text hard to focus on?

    You could shift the screen's hue with a keyboard shortcut maybe? I used to have a hue slider because I generally have bad vision and it often helped me out with red text on black terminal.

    @Lor-inc I choose themes so I don't have that problem, but if I run into it, good idea.

    @Charon92 put your finger directly above your computer screen. Either the screen is in focus, or the finger. Can't be both. Same thing essentially, but the "double picture" is so close together it just looks like blurriness.

    @Techno-Wizard I get that with red text too! But to my knowledge there's nothing wrong with my sight except for standard nearsightedness 🤔

    @Elyz I'M NOT ALONE! Why on Earth is red different?

    @Techno-Wizard I have no idea but it's an annoying color.

    @Elyz I'm kinda biased on that, so I don't have much of an opinion. Lol

    @Charon92 you see it too?

    Not a doctor, but iirc there are studies that show that infrared light causes eye fatigue and makes it harder to focus your sight, even though we can't actually see it - to everyone, that is, not just people with your issue.
    So if I had to guess, I'd say your condition is just a more 'severe' version of this phenomenon (no idea how it's called).
    Look it up, it might be interesting.

    Also, the red colour is quite straining on the eyes in general (though it's not supposed to cause the issues you have)

    @iamavalos common misconception. I still see all the colors, but the intensities are wrong.

    Also I have no idea what red or purple are actually supposed to look like, so I still identify colors the same. They're just not right.

    @iamavalos misnomer. Protanopia, deurtanopia, and tritanopia are the right terms, or red, green, or blue color deficiency. It's more common for protanomoly... Etc where it's a reduced cone count but not 0
