iAmNaN71316yYeah, there had to be something behind this rant. I mean, you're right, all Communists did is replace one autocratic system with another, and the workers continued to groan under the yoke of oppression and exploitation; same system, different masters.
-
Well welcome to social darwinism, you allways have to expect people will not act in your favour if your favour is less valuable than the thing they would gain. If you keep that in mind you figured out 20% of all social interactions.

iAmNaN71316y@Nanos UBI doesn't work, because all of does is reset the baseline; it becomes the new zero.
-
iAmNaN71316yThe universal part of UBI is that everyone gets a basic income. Everyone. Then one builds on that. If the baseline is currently 0, and you move it to say, 2500, that now becomes your baseline. Unless you have a government controlled economy (hello, Venezuela) prices will shift for the new influx of cash. Rents go up, food cost go up, gas goes up, etc, and eventually you end up back where you started. What do you do then? Throw money into the pit? Unless you have a controlled economy, UBI won't work. Places have already tried it, and it isn't working. Basic economics days it can't work in practice, only in theory.
-
@iAmNaN UBI is meant to replace all other benefits and subsidizing, so there will not be more money circulating in society, thus no increased inflation. This might have more effect in countries with an extensive welfare state, where more money will be redistributed in the end, as opposed to countries with limited welfare. And as @Nanos says, success depends heavily on the attitude and culture of the citizens: will they take the chance to pursue what they did not previously dare to do due to limited resources, or will they just sit on their fat asses and do nothing but getting fed? There is no single answer to this.

iAmNaN71316y@stormwise it would be an economic disaster that would make Venezuela and Zimbabwe look like economic geniuses. Given your point, a very large portion of the population, if they didn't have to work, wouldn't. Why labor in the hot sun, if your meal ticket is guaranteed. Innovation and progress would go out the window. All the benefits in society that we take for granted in the West, from communication, to transportation, to Healthcare, to food production arise out of an incentive system that would collapse. While many devs, for instance, would gladly do what they do for free, many more would not. Just look at the rants here. Society would have to go through a violent and bloody upheaval that would make the French or Russian revolutions look like Sunday picnics in order to transform society to be amendable to that sort of change.

Some people are just disgusting liars. They find it convenient to lie rather than to keep their word. They don't deserve free stuffs or services.
This is why communism will never work.
Fuck those people.
