Who’s used Ionic framework and was it worth it?

I've used it since it was Ionic 1 and I can totally say they've made lot of good changes now, as before it was not that much good in terms of performance as well as native capabilities.

One of the thing I most like is, it is simple if you know Angular and customizing UI is not that hard too(as I found it is little hard in ReactNative).
Just try simple app and you will get to know better.
