One thing I learned early on was...

"If the bug is not where you are looking...look somewhere else."

I just spent 2 hours looking at 50 lines of code pulling my hair out why it wasn't working. Guess what...those lines were correct. The bug was somewhere else.

Oh man. That and to read the goddamn error message / exception / log output. There's so many times I've just ben "Nah bruh, I'm going to completely ignore the fact that I'm staring all the facts right in the face and start looking elsewhere"... I have no idea why this keeps happening. Especially when I'm so aware of it.
