Some very friendly neighbor bought new wifi probably yesterday and it literally fucked up my wifi speed. I easily got like 30Mbits in the toilet, now it is only 2-5 megs dropping to 300kbits sometimes... Very fucked up. All channels are full and what is worse, if some channel is good on one side of the apartment, it is flooded on the other...
The only solution seems to be 5GHz, but it sucks, because its range is soooo small between these concrete walls, I would need at least 2 extenders lol.

Try Mesh network or Netgear Orbi

get a jammer, they probably have smart AP... so just make the channel you want to use unusable for their AP so that it switches to another channel and then just blast your network at full power on you desired channel

Alternative: Talk to your neighbours and ask to change the channel?

Weird if 5 GHz drops so bad. Are you sure you have signal on full? If other routers can't hear yours, they don't know to shut up when it's transmitting. Maybe try adjusting antennas to different angles?

@electrineer I guess it is because my router is pretty much in the corner of my apartment...if I placed it somewhere in the middle, signal would be probably everywhere. Definitely something to consider in the future.

@sbiewald or if it's a netgearxx router with default password the password is an adjective+noun followed by 3 numbers. Just saying not that I condone anything illegal. 🙄

I switched to 5GHz and turned off my 2.4GHz and would never go back. Range is good enough for me and it can actually sustain very high transfer speeds.
Plus, since I'm working on a custom 2.4GHz transceiver, sometimes I creates much noise that 2.4 wifi becomes simply unusable. I bet some of my neighbors are asking themselves why the wifi becomes so shitty from time to time, but they have no way to know that it's me 😂
