Question.

So I mainly work as a front end developer but I want to look into more backend stuff, would it be worth sucking it up and learn PHP and Laravel or Node.js and use something like Adonis?

It depends. What do you want to build?

@Priestoflol I have a lot of ideas but job wise in my area mostly PHP including Laravel with some Node positions but I know Laravel has a solid community and resources. Not a massive fan of the PHP syntax but I really like Laravel (built a few things a while back)

@HolyTeabags Yes go for PHP while studying NodeJS on the side. There are lots of work specially for Laravel and Symfony + RESTful APIs

NodeJS + Express is gaining a lot of traction right now. Study also the demands in your area. In my area, they require lots of Magento 2, Laravel/Symfony APIs, Angular, ReactJs and NodeJS.

Sadly I only saw 2 VueJS as a requirement. Sigh. I will be forced to learn the skills required in my area.
